SPOILERS inside.

1408 was good for the first hour and 10 minutes or so and beyond which it felt like another horror film that lacked any characteristic difference from the usual PG-13 horror films. I agree that this film relies on psychological tension rather than on violence and gore. Also I agree that John Cusack provides a good performance. The film begins with promise, but then and there it ultimately succumbs into nothing. A room (1408) on a hotel called Dolpin had been haunted ever since the hotel was made. Why? Never at any point in the film is this aspect explained. That's one reason to hate this one. Also a room turns wild when people enter it and we are not clearly told whether it is actually a ghost or a ***king spirit or whatever. The film has a poor climax and it tells that burning the room alive would be the only way to end it's tyranny. This film lacks a clear point of view and it accounts for the low audience rating despite of being critically acclaimed. The visuals are good as well.
