Review of 1408 (2007) by Howard B — 22 Dec 2015
It is hard to attack the plot of a film based on a book, especially one by an author who has offered up so many great film adaptations, but this is not one. Both the horror and the twists are incredibly predictable and occasionally even awkwardly funny.
Ultimately however it is a bit of a bore as it's entire premise is that it goes no where. Apart from a few nice aesthetic moments and good performances there is not much here and an ending that could have been written a myriad of better ways but ultimately just sours the already limp experience.
