Review of 14 Blades (2010) by Frances H — 26 Jun 2017
This movie had everything! First a mustached, crinkle-haired hero who wears a hat that makes him look like Antonio Banderas in Zorro, complete with younger protege who has the long straight hair style of Wind in His Hair from Dances With Wolves, a band of desert thieves who turn out to be good guys, lead by a Chinese Johnny Depp look- alike from Pirates of the Caribbean who sports no shirt to show off his killer abs, a female baddie who has the make up job of Julie Newmar playing Cat Woman on the 60s TV show Batman who sports a Bo Derek from 10 hairdo, who can actually not only strip while fighting, but put them back on, too, and finally a bad guy general with a sheik's headdress who serves a prince with iron legs, kind of the opposite to Dr.
Loveless in Wild, Wild West. The airborne fighting styles are right out of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, while the music could come from just about any of the old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. Last, but not least, there is a rockslide ambush in the canyon straight out of really old westerns and the romantic ending when "every time a bell rings" the hero comes back to the heroine riding out of the sunset.
WOW! How can all of this not be entertaining?
