Review of 13th (2016) by David J — 18 Oct 2016
Ava DuVernay's greatest wrong-doing here doesn't lie in "13th's" deceptive nature, but in her lessening of important subjects that are in dire need of a solution (e.g. mass incarceration, police shootings, etc.) to political props. Taking into account all of the facts she chooses to ignore, perhaps I should ignore the good qualities (and there are some) of this documentary.
If you are going to watch "13th," and I don't want to deter you from doing such, please remember that correlation does not equal causation. Furthermore, just because it's portrayed as a fact doesn't mean that it is one.
R.I.P. all who've died wrongfully at the hands of police officers.
