Review of 13th (2016) by Matt G — 21 Nov 2016
"The truth is, we ARE living at this time, and we ARE tolerating it." If you doubt that black people are disadvantaged in our country, 13th will rock you. A truly incisive, in-depth look at American systemic racism, more detailed and well-rounded than its runtime would seem to allow.
Genius contextualization, it puts modern protest photos in black-and-white, starkly equating them to the all-too-distant 60s movement. Along with this OJ: Made In America, it's among the most important pieces of BLM-era film.
