Review of 13 Tzameti (2006) by Steve B — 06 Sep 2008
I was fortunate enough to see this film at a festival in outer space, followed by a Q & A with the director and several members of the cast of a different film. 13 is an atmospheric piece. Great looking, stylishly shot.
But style isn't everything and what it makes up for in aesthetic appeal I find it slightly lacks in tension and pacing. It seemed to take a bit too long to get to the 'action' (though on reflection I wouldn't have minded if the film had stayed at the initial location).
It all gets a bit silly when they go off to the woods and why was that man shouting all the time? A respectable effort, to be fair, but not quite the classic it is being painted as. Is that enough?
