Review of 13 Tzameti (2006) by Pete C — 13 Oct 2006
Simple and effective... the two words I would use to describe this film. Quality movie making that further proves the point I've been making for some time now - you don't need an overgrown budget to create a good film, but talent, and this flim exibits a lot of it, as far as both acting and directing are concerned. In fact, a lot of the film's power lies in the excellent acting.
Similar to Haneke's Cache, in the fact that the story isn't explained very much, but left to the viewer to observe, as well as in the fact that the director preffers to use "objective" camerawork.
Allow yourselves to be surprised by this film, it's definitely worth it.
By the way, Hollwood is remaking this one as well. I don't even know what to say anymore. The rip off these good International Cinema films are being subjected to is outrageous.
