Review of 13 Tzameti (2006) by Edwin A — 01 Nov 2008
Blending the likes of Melville and Bresson with other European sensibilities, 13 Tzameti creates a tense and classically stylish thriller. I'm not sure what the message of the movie really was, but I'm sure there is one. There are a few aspects that leave a little to be desired but overall this is a solid film that falls far ahead of the wide majority of modern thriller pictures by understanding that patience births more rewards than ultra-kinetic hyperactivity. It should be commended that it takes such a gruesome game and uses it psychologically, avoiding the gore that would have taken the first billing in most of its contemporary peers.
Babluani should be someone to keep an eye on in the future.
