Review of 13 Sins (2014) by Peter O — 03 Jun 2014
13 Sins (alternate-title Angry Little God and 13: Game of Death) - American remake of Thai film 13 Beloved - it was directed by Daniel Stamm and starring Mark Webber.
Elliot (Mark Webber) lives with his expecting African-American wife. His father is a racist fella who's shown 'evict-notice' - Elliot wants to marry and in doing so, he desires a lavish life for his soon-to-arrive baby. One day on his way back home he receives a call from a stranger, who asks him to get registered in a game that awards the winner sum of amount - directly transferred into their online-internet bank account. If the contestant for some reason decides to abandon the game, the winning portion of money would be rolled-back.
"Money makes the mare go" is a famous proverb that comes to mind. Money's plays its charm almost on everybody. I had heard from my elders that money brings smile on your face no matter what situation you are passing through - empty pockets leave you feeling cast-off soul on the face of the earth.
So here we are with another movie that picks up the cool subject of 'greediness' and 'smell-of-money'. Its run is smooth and the choice of actors likewise makes it worth giving a try. Ron Perlman (Hellboy) also stars in this dark-thriller, playing 'cop' assigned to trace the suspect (Elliot). There is no pause to its tremendous show of action packed scenes. There are numerous panic-building scenes that might call for its praiseworthy directing and writing.
