Review of 13 Sins (2014) by Brett H — 15 Dec 2014
A surprisingly easy-going, almost black comedy-esque thriller that owes a lot to the action film, 12 Rounds, but is still an enjoyably, loony ride. The premise is simple: man must do what simon says to make a boat-load of money, so the real thrill is seeing what things he has to subject himself to, and some are just insane.
The main character takes it all in stride and in the end his quest leads to some admittedly surprising, though half-baked twists that you partially figure out beforehand. Though it's never fully explained how these people are constantly monitoring him or how it's possible to force a specific ringtone onto any phone he uses; you just have to go with it and assume Big Brother is absolutely everywhere.
It's a totally brainless thriller that doesn't take itself too seriously and was actually a bit of a hoot!
