An excellent ensemble cast film, 13 Moons has a great deal going for it: Strong performances, great characterization, believable relationships and surprisingly good visuals for such a low key, low budget film.

While this is entirely an ensemble cast film, if one character should be considered the lead more than any other, David Proval takes it by a nose, and it is highly refreshing to see this excellent character actor having a larger role for once.

Writer/Director Alexandre Rockwell masterfully juggles his large cast of characters, giving each of them their time to shine and so much development that when you look back on it at the end you'll be amazed so much character development for so many characters could be crammed into a 90 minute film without making it a dull "talking heads" piece.

This film has moments that are funny and many that are truly touching. This is a true overlooked gem of a film and I highly recommend seeking it out.
