Review of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) by Isadore H — 08 Oct 2016
13 Hours is a film based on a true story by Micheal Bay, and unlike his last two attempts to do this type of a movie, this time it's actually pretty dang good. Of course, there's some Bayhem in place here, massive explosions, and parts where I felt like I hardly had time to catch my breath.
But this time it was in small doses, and the rest of the film wasn't filled with lame jokes and asshats for characters. Believe it or not, I think Bay really took himself seriously as a director, and wanted everyone to know it.
The acting is all really good, so good there were points when I forgot I was watching a movie and not a recording of the real thing. I really enjoyed 13 Hours, it was a little long in that Micheal Bay way, where you feel like you could've skipped 20 minutes, and the beginning was a little slow, but overall, I'd say this made me think of Black Hawk Down a little bit, a better film in my opinion, but the similarities were there.
