Review of 13 Going on 30 (2004) by Jordan K — 11 Apr 2015
I liked Big when it was with Tom Hanks better - 13 Going on 30 borrows the age old "body shifting" schtick used in so many other movies and gives it an especially girly makeover, making it an ultimate chick flick experience, guys will most likely suffer at certain points.
A girl wishes she was 30 like models she sees in a magazine and her wish is granted by magic - when she wakes up, she is 30, as she attempts to recollect the years since, her adulthood experiences, her job at a gossip magazine company, and attempting to win over her childhood best friend.
It's too girly for my liking, Garner does a good believable job in her role, though, but the other cast is poor - this is in no way deserving of any cult status, it's unimaginative and predictable. It has so many characters you won't care about and an ending I could care less about, either. Nothing is up to par except Garner's performance - I'd skip it for guys.
