Review of 13 Going on 30 (2004) by Keegan K — 10 Jan 2014
Great movie! Sure it is more of a chick flick but by the time I finished watching the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I honestly wasn't quite sure where it was going in the beginning but after Jenna turns 30, and the story starts to unfold, I was hooked.
Jenna was trying so hard to fit in with the popular crowd in school. Her best friend was Matt, a photographer. She ended up inviting the popular crowd over to her house where she hoped she could meet her crush Chris. In exchange she offered to do their homework. Before the girls arrived, Matt gave her a dollhouse he had spent three weeks making, for her birthday. Later the girls came over and they sent Jenna to the closet for seven minutes of heaven. Jenna ended up wishing she was 30 and the next morning she woke up 17 years later. She had become part of the popular crowd, totally blown off Matt, and was not very well-liked amongst her family or her coworkers.
And there in lies the movie. Trying to change her ways, fixing all the problems she had caused, and trying to win back her best friend Matt.
The movie is very fun, with actors Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo as very likable characters. There is an awesome dancing scene with the song thriller, and it was nice seeing a girl trying to win back a guy. Definitely a feel-good movie and one I would love to watch again.
