Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Geoff C — 28 Jan 2012

Takashi Miike is amazing. He's made so many great films and 13 Assassins is one of the best I've ever seen. It's a classic story, and really reminded me of an American western. The atmosphere is what really makes the movie stand out with some amazing cinematography, good fight scenes, and a great hook leading into the final showdown.

If I had one gripe it's that the first third of the film is a bit slow, but that's forgivable considering how action packed the rest of the movie is. If you're even a casual fan of samurai films you have to see this one.
