Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Tong S — 29 Jul 2011
One of the best Samurai movies I've watched and the first for a work of Takashi Miike. This movie had these ingredients to the recipe for success. A memorable villain, whose evilness makes recent villains look harmless in comparison.
A ragtag group which includes a master swordsman, untested warrior and a hunter. A well-thought and excellent execution of the story. Impressive costume design and battle scenes. CGI was used but sparingly.
The sword-fights were portrayed as realistic as it can be. All in all, this movie delivered from start to finish. For audiences who love jidaigeki movies, this movie is highly recommended.
