Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Dickie L — 01 Oct 2011
The spirit of Akira Kurosawa is alive and well with 13 Assassins, an all-swords blazing epic featuring an unforgettably dastardly villain and a battle scene that takes up almost half the film's running time.
Lavish to look at and incredibly well choreographed, this is rousing stuff. Never mind that it's wildly implausible, it's best to just sit back and enjoy the spectacle. Any resemblance to Seven Samurai is purely intentional.
