Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Logan D — 03 Jan 2012
In the same way that There Will Be Blood reminds of Citizen Kane, this movie reminds me of The Seven Samurai, which is one of my all time favorites. Even the characters are similar with the same sort of extended battle sequence where a group of vastly outnumbered men fight to the death.
The movie lacks much character death, but this is more a movie about setting. Focusing on the era it takes place in with detail and the movie is great without that character development. This is an action movie, not a drama and it kept me thoroughly excited for the majority of the movie.
