Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Robert M — 05 Jan 2012
Among the best action films I've ever seen. Takeshi Miike takes a break from the bizarre to deliver an samurai film that would make Kurosawa proud. The first half is dedicated to establishing the conflict, developing the characters, building up the action and setting up what a psycho the our heros will have to face.
The second half is the longest and one the most intense action scenes ever crafted and it does this without being repetitive. Epic and action packed, this is the best film of 2011.
