Review of 127 Hours (2010) by Shawn E — 20 May 2012

So, your last movie just earned you a shiny new Best Director Oscar in addition to a lovely Best Picture Oscar to use as bookends - How do you follow something like this up? Well, if you're Danny Boyle, you use it as a springboard to make an even better film. '127 Hours' is one of the finest films of the year, further proof that Boyle is a filmmaking force to be reckoned with and an incredible showcase for James Franco's stunning acting abilities (Give the man an Oscar already).

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll jump, you'll cheer, you'll be stunned by the glorious cinematography and the remarkable, inspiring true story and you'll wonder how on earth a movie about a man being stuck in the same spot for days on end could possibly be so intense and entertaining. This, my friends, is what happens when talented folks come together to make something extraordinary. One of 2010's best.
