Review of 127 Hours (2010) by Michelle F — 21 Oct 2012
Pure inspiring and a celebration commending the ever immense strength of human survival instinct, Danny Boyle has yet directed another Oscar eligible masterpiece spearheaded by James Franco's winning performance.
Based on the remarkably true story of mountain hiker Aron Ralston, the film is an incredibly soulful journey demonstrating how far a human would go to survive when his limit is pushed to the extreme. The film vividly paints an emotional complexity lies within the character himself before effectively transforming these qualities of his memories into powerful spirits in elevating his will to survive.
Franco's performance is raw, emotionally real and strong terms of living up the realism of the situation the protagonist caught in. Not to mention the gruesome arm-amputating scene that'll surely leave a memorable mark to cinema-goers.
Definitely an ode dedicated to the unpredictable power of human in overcoming the very harsh forces of nature.
