Review of 127 Hours (2010) by Jordan D — 18 Jan 2013
Boyle is one of my favorite directors. The man is as diverse as they come. He's made a movie about druggies, a kid who finds millions of dollars, zombies, restarting the sun, a orphan from Mumbai, and now a movie about a man being stuck in a canyon.
All these movies are pretty darn good. Quite the resume eh? It's amazing how good this movie is considering the subject matter. It's 90% of Franco being stuck in one spot. The camera work is fast with interesting angles.
It's a very kinetic film actually. I think Franco deserved the Oscar. He IS the film. One last thing, the arm scene was one of the hardest scenes I've had to watch, pretty brutal.
