Review of 127 Hours (2010) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
Incredible and existential. James Franco rocks (no pun intended). I think about past one-man-shows (Cast Away, Phone Booth, and more recently Buried) but this one stands out as truly thought provoking and philosophical.
Danny Boyle has always been one of the most diverse directors and incorporates multiple styles, cameras, and editing to create a wonderfully unique experience. 127 Hours never becomes dull and you feel every moment, memory, and pain that Aaron Ralston felt in his experience.
One constant that Boyle always incorporates in his films is the soundtrack; eclectic and integral. Boyle knows how to use music in every one of his movies, and here is no different. This movie hit me so hard that I've had a difficult time shaking its imagery and message.
Powerful as fuck.
