Review of 127 Hours (2010) by Henry F — 02 May 2014
Danny Boyle tells this incredible true story about a man that fights for his life after getting trapped by a rock in the middle of nowhere with real skill. Accompanied with James Franco's brilliant performance, this is definitely one of Boyle's best films.
Although he occasionally puts style and tone where it clashes with the dark subject, the direction is overall very good, creating an engaging and involving film with an ending that's hard to stomach.
On top of all this, it's an emotional and inspirational story that manages to include some life lessons that everyone can take something from. Boyle's directing style is very unique, and this is a film that really shows that, creating so much out of a story involving just a man and a rock.
