One of the greatest films, about slavery or otherwise, ever made. I could never, in good conscience, say that I know what it must've been like to be a black slave, because I really couldn't possibly know.
But this film brings to light the unspeakable physical and mental anguish of its lead character, Solomon, in such an unflinchingly brutal way, you'll either feel like you're learning about slavery for the first time or you'll realize that what you think you know is just a glossed over version.
