Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Nick K — 07 Feb 2015
It took be a while before I finally saw this film, even though it got wonderful reviews and won Best Picture at the Oscars. I also really liked Steve McQueen's Shame a few years ago too. This film isn't the easiest film to watch as some scenes are tough to watch, but it was some terrific performances, especially Chiwetel Ejiofor.
It was also kind of fun to see the supporting cast members put up in small roles as well. This film is very well-made, but this is a film that I, and probably most people, won't re-watch too often, due to the graphic nature of the plot.
Overall I did like this well-made and well-acted epic and look forward to more from its lead actor and director.
