Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Spencer K — 08 Feb 2015

I remember when I saw this film, it was me and some friends in the theater and that's was it just us, we were being pound during the previews of course, but I remember do vividly when the film ended it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop and we remained in our seats, silent, motionless for a good few minutes.

this film affected me so much that I don't think any film has ever done so much before. it's one of the most brutal, uncomfortable films I have ever had to sit through, but wow is it worth it.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong'o give incredible performances here and everyone else involved as well. I think this is a movie that needs to be shown in schools all around the world because I don't think a film has so expertly illustrated slavery so well as this film has and it's a truly moving, powerful, emotionally jarring film that stuck with me for months and months after I saw it and still has.

I will soon come to forget this film and I think you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't see this film because it is an incredible experience. THE best film of 2013 and the best film on slavery I have ever seen.
