Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Rebecca G — 09 Feb 2015

My husband and I wanted to watch this to learn and see what the hype was about. We both felt disgusted and disappointed, is this completely miserable film dealing with such a sensitive subject really in the name of entertainment.

There' s no argument that the subject matter is very serious and it's horrific, but I can't help feeling this should have been put across in a good documentary and not in a film that is utterly depressing and sickening.

I would not recommend this film to anyone. I can't believe the money that's been made from this either, it feels so very wrong.
