Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Amber D — 19 Mar 2015
By this point in my life I've just about reached my fill of slavery movies, which is why it took me so long to watch this one despite the good press. But I finally did and I really enjoyed it. This didn't play like a slavery movie to me; it was a story of overcoming during the time of slavery.
Plus I got to learn about an American historical figure I hadn't known about before. It was amazing seeing his story.
