Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Tor M — 30 Mar 2015
One of the biggest motion pictures of 2013. The story is something that everyone can like and it can't really fail with such casting and direction. Steve McQueen is the perfect man for this film and he adds something to the direction. It's not too typical, but it stays quite safe all the way.
Maybe the biggest Oscar fish in the Oscar-sea of 2013 and it's a film that deservingly got a huge audience. Chiwetel Ejiofor is amazing in hos role. Others also does very well. Some super scenes, and I like the one where the lead is on his toes in the inches of slippery mud a lot. Other scenes are even rougher and really makes an impression.
A solid, emotional film that does just as it should. It makes you hate the history of slavery even more.
8 out of 10 violins.
