Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Fiona C — 03 Jan 2015
Brutal. Captures the slave holders mentality perfectly; the self-preservation behaviors of humans in surviving evil and the continuance of goodness and hope despite that evil. This should be mandatory for all to read, view, then discuss in detail, then go onto question how can we each better our own behavior to others.
How can we prevent any further bigotry and wrongdoing based on race and any power inequality. These films serve a purpose in educating the masses. It, racism and power inequality happens in every era, all the time, in so many small ways (and big ways).
This film just happens to depict so well one of those big ways. Power over others corrupts. Power corrupts.
