'12 Years A Slave' is a beautifully crafted and worthy portrayal of the true story it is based on. The film doesn't try to hide the jarring conduct of slavers in the 19th Century, so viewers who are squeamish around flesh should beware.
Touching on the themes of racism, love, and hope, the story is breathtaking and the settings are consistently jaw dropping. With excellent direction by Steve McQueen and a grand performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor, this drama is a poetic, but fierce experience.
