Depressing and tragic, 12 Years a Slave inflicts emotional holocaust onto its viewers due to its sadly realistic story and outstanding acting performances. Although it suffers from occasional slowness, this is a film that is a necessary viewing to really understand the way of life for slaves in the 1800s.
