This movie explores the subject of slavery and with this type of movie you're supposed to feel a range of emotions but I felt nothing for this movie or the characters. This movie tried hard to tell its story but lacked any substance.
With slavery as the subject matter, this movie could have been more interesting both historically and as a movie. Now the movie does have a few good scenes and the acting was good but it felt like one of those regular historical movies that the Academy likes to award.
