Review of 12 Angry Men (1957) by Late R — 22 Sep 2018
Genius. Hardly ever moving outside of one room, the entire film hinges solely on two things: first of all, the incredible writing that gives us 12 very different, realistic-feeling characters who all have their own bits of brilliant, smart dialogue; and secondly, the spot-on performances of the cast who absolutely nail their parts.
It's amazing how many different aspects they manage to build into the plot, from thoughts on prejudice, social standing, morals, psychology, and the fundamental character of a man -- how that and his past experiences affects every decision he makes in life.
It also cleverly shows that no legal system can ever be perfect, making for compelling and, when you think about it, quite scary viewing. '12 Angry Men' really is just a riveting, fantastically put-together film.
