Review of 12 Angry Men (1957) by Johnathon W — 19 May 2013
Classic legal drama thanks to a superb cast, intelligent script by Rose and brilliant direction by Lumet, who keeps things cinematic even though all the action takes place in a single room. Every actor shines in their roles, though Fonda's natural star power brings a lot of focus on him, while Rose's story gives an accurate account of jury proceedings (so much so the film is now shown in criminal justice classes), especially in pointing out it's not about proving the accused innocent but finding if there is a reasonable doubt he is guilty.
A classic in every sense of the word.
