Review of 12 Angry Men (1957) by Andrew N — 14 Aug 2015
Timeless drama in which held your attention for an hour and a half on pure diologue..
It only used one set, and as the movie progressed it seemed to get hotter, more tense, darker, more personal and intriguing.
Great character acting, in which named no names.. What I liked also was it raised many issues including racism, generation, the slums etc which brought in certain acts clearer in their state, this most evedent in Lee J Cobbs role.
His logic slowly changed into hatred for youth, and personalised by his own sons relationship was his overal breakdown.
Great directing also, in that last halfhour it got very tight in closups, you could feel its temperature, almost as if the room had gotten smaller.
Compared to the beginning which it seemed as if it was as cool as day break.
Superb drama, great variety of characterisation and dialogue.
