Review of 11:14 (2004) by Peter H — 01 Dec 2009
11:14 is a highly original film with a not-so original concept. It's an interconnected-path movie similar to films like Pulp Fiction and Crash. Granted, 11:14's concept was much more original back in 2003 than today with many other films with a similar concept being released (Crash, Babel).
I was quite surprised about the level of polish 11:14 has. Everything fits together so perfectly. Coming from a movie I only recently heard about, I didn't expect much. 11:14 has three well-known actors; Hilary Swank, Ben Foster, and Patrick Swayze.
They all give a good/fun performance. By the end of 11:14, I felt like I knew the town as if I lived there. 11:14 doesn't have a plot, events just occur throughout which created the feeling of a some-what pointless movie.
This film also flows through perfectly and although I doubted 11:14 for making errors in the chronology of events, I was ultimately wrong as this movie never made a mistake. 11:14 is one of the most fun I've had watching a film in a long time.
The ending gave me one short goose bump which came perfectly as the credits started rolling. 11:14 is fast-paced, short, and never boring. Viewers will be pleasantly surprised and maybe also question themselves for having missed out on this black comedy gem.
