Review of 11:14 (2004) by Pete S — 11 May 2012
11:14 is a clever, dark, amusing film featuring a great cast of well known actors really getting into their roles. As we view the same night through different characters viewpoints, I was reminded of the great movie "Go" in that it takes you places you really don't expect.
The tone never gets serious enough for us to get uncomfortable, even when people's genitals are in jepardy or people are trying to fit dead bodies in trunks. It's odd, it's quirky, but it all works in such a way that you want to keep watching, largely due to the intentionally funny cluelessness of some of the key characters.
Rachel Leigh Cool steals her scenes and has never looked better in my opinion. There is little point other than trying to figure out how they are all connected, but it provides enough fun along the way to provide satisfaction.
If Crash was written to be a dark comedy instead of a message film, it might have gone something like this.
