Review of 100 Feet (2008) by Sean C — 11 Jun 2010
Her husband's dead, and he's taking the news badly.
A somewhat workable horror film which stars X-Men alum, Famke Janssen, as well as Gossip Girl bad boy, Ed Westwick. The movie as a whole as a sinister feel to it, but as it nears the end, it gets slow and a wee bit dragging. However, the concept of being trapped inside a house with the ghost of a man who beat you practically to a bloody pulp can be terrifying - if you know how to execute it properly. And they almost did.
Marnie Watson (Janssen) returns to her apartment which she shared with her husband, Mike (Pare), after being released from prison. She was charged with murdering Mike, but she fervently insists that she did it on grounds of self defense. Accompanying her is Mike's friend and colleague, Shanks (Cannavale), who plans on keeping an eye on her while she fulfills the rest of her sentence at home. A metal bracelet is strapped to her ankle which is set to trigger an alarm if she goes beyond the confines of her home - a 100 foot radius. Her first night passes uneventfully, and she even meets her hot delivery boy, Joey (Westwick), who is clearly attracted to her as she is to him. Her solitude is short-lived, however, as she discovers that her husband's ghost still haunts the house, and plans on extracting savage and bloody revenge on the person who killed him - her.
