Review of 100 Bloody Acres (2012) by Aaron K — 04 Aug 2013
A very funny black comedy, full of oddball characters and quirky scenery, mixed with horror, gore and some outright weird sex and drug taking. The story moves really quicky between outrageous comedy and exagerarted gore.
It's filmed around the Adelaide Hills in summer (locals will be able to recognise many of the locations) and the casting of Angus Sampson and Damon Herriman (the boy who played Frank in The Sullivans) is brilliant.
There were many highlights for me, but two in particular involve a "girlfriend called Bec" and the policeman "Sergeant Burke" ... to reveal why would be a spoiler, but when you see the movie you'll know why.
Made me proud that the South Australian Film Corporation has again produced an innovative and very clever movie that extracts brilliant comedy. Highly recommended, but a definite warning that its not for the weak or easily offended - the gore is pretty intense!
