Review of 10 Years (2012) by James W — 01 Sep 2013
10 Years feels like you are in the position that Jenna Dewan Tatum is in: You don't know anybody, you're left on the sides and forced to stay. Basically I'm saying 10 Years is a drag and you feel isolated and unconnected as the viewer.
The cast look like they are having a blast, they actually feel like old friends and the melding of this talent comes together nicely, so the acting is all good but for me this was one boring reunion. It's weakly edited and shot, it feels half-assed as if Director Jamie Linden said "take one.
.yeah that'll do". There's no solidarity here just clumps and montages of dull dialogue, insanely repetitive meet and greets. If I were to single out a couple of standout aspects that would be female leads Lynn Collins and Kate Mara who were excellent and playing probably the only characters that were fully fleshed out and actually interesting to watch, plus Oscar Isaac and Brian Geraghty are the best male leads.
With no redeeming values and a sense of disconnect to it's story, 10 Years is a boring reunion with absolutely no funny moments and only the slight moment of drama.
