Review of 10 Rillington Place (1971) by Luke T — 30 Sep 2016
This British crime film is based on the real-life story of John Christie, a serial killer who murdered at least eight women between the 40s and 50s, and was hanged in 1953 for his crimes.
Richard Attenborough gives a very good performance as Christie, while John Hurt is very good as Timothy Evans, the neighbour in which Christie involved him in with his crimes. The direction from Richard Fleischer is good and considering what the film is about it has to be because if it wasn't then this would have not been a very good film.
This is an honest, gritty account, that in some cases you can say it is a little disturbing in places. It is a hard watch, but is worth viewing. It is also one of many controversial movies that were in the year of this release, though this one works well due to the good performances from the cast and the tense atmosphere.
