This is a weirdly uneven story that doesn't know if it's a farce, a comedy, a drams, or witty urban slice of life. I couldn't take it seriously and it is a prime example of a writer who cannot or will not grapple capably with the material.
It is therefore a parody of itself and very indulgent. Give it a miss.
