Review of 10 Days in a Madhouse (2015) by Los06 D — 20 Nov 2015
Very good movie if you like history, social activism and women's advocacy. If you are an action movie, big budget big explosions type of person, you will not get this movie, go watch Spectre. This movie actually has significant plot, and substance.
Nellie Bly is a young female journalist ahead of her time. The movie follows her true story which stresses the importance of there being advocacy for voiceless women suffering from mental illness and justice for women wrongly committed to institutions. It's of utmost importance to continually maintain our standards as human beings, that everyone matters and no one should be abused, neglected or killed when allegedly under the care of others. The relationship between Nellie Bly and Dr Dent is the heart of the madhouse; Bly the spearhead of uncovering the truth, Dr Dent the spearhead of advancing mental healthcare at any cost including lives. Both Caroline Barry as Nellie Bly and 90s hunk (and forever Highlander to me) Christopher Lambert rise to the occasion.
