Sadly in the end this is just kind of meh. Competent but unremarkable save for John Goodmans performance. Without him this would likely have been unwatchable.
I won't offer spoilers, but this is one of those movies that rests on a binary outcome. Armageddon has taken place or it hasn't. That being the case the last 15 minutes should hit you with serious weight and impact, the fact is they just don't. The reveal is just not very interesting.
5 stars for goodman though.
