Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Aj F — 27 Jun 2016
I thought it was a descent movie. It captured my attention and even thrilled me a few times. John Goodman an Mary Elizabeth Winstead did a great job playing those rolls.
I really like JJ Abrams' work and was excited to see it. After it was all over, however I was a bit disappointed. The move was engaging and thrilling all the way up to the last 10 minutes.
The best thing it had going for it was the mystery of the real threat. It had the same kind of feel to it as "Signs" (which is one of my favorite suspense movies), except not as tactful. That's the difficult part of an alien movie: it's been done before and there are no really creative aliens anymore. Once the alien was revealed, it wasn't suspenseful anymore. The ending ruined the whole movie for me.
[spoiler].
It would've been better if it had just ended when she escaped the bunker. She seemed to conveniently destroy the alien the first time and within 2 minutes of meeting it. Pretty lame if you ask me.
