Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Otto V — 06 Aug 2016
This is so not a Cloverfield movie. We were lied to just so they could get Cloverfield fans into theater. You get ten to fifteen minutes of sort of Cloverfield movie but also not really, and the rest is just a completely different film altogether.
You spend 85% of this movie down in that stupid bunker missing out on all the cool Cloverfield stuff! This movie isn't terrible, in fact if it hadn't pretended to be a Cloverfield movie when it was really just a different movie with some fake Cloverfield tacked on then I probably would be giving it four out of five.
When you're down in that bunker watching these strangers try to live together, you encounter some real Hitchcock moments that really emerge you in the film. But this movie pulled the long con, and because of that has a very insulting ending for all the Cloverfield fans that came to see a freaking Cloverfield sequel.
