Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Petros T — 16 Aug 2016
"10 Cloverfield Lane" has a tense first act that manages to convey the feelings of the heroine to the viewer: you too have no clue as to what's going on and you don't know who to trust.
It might be the oldest trick in the book but it works. Unfortunately the zero character insight (John Goodman's Howard excluded) leaves every action that follows unjustified and thus the story's development suffers a lot.
It's a film that falls flat a lot more than it thinks.
