Review of 10 (1979) by Corey H — 19 Jan 2008
This is by no means a great movie but it is good and I definitely enjoyed it. The argument over the term "broad" was the first thing I really liked. Just classic dialogue. It also helped that not only do we get a classy broad like Julie Andrews who's always good but we also get Bo Derek looking hot as hell.
I'm not a fan of the dreadlocks but she pulled it off. Too bad she turned out to be a whore. Still, she's a mighty fine whore. With that said, the movie was too long. Scenes like the extended sequences with Dudley Moore singing, the multiple times they missed each other's calls and the whole sequence with the elderly people in the water just seemed to go on a bit too long.
We already knew he was going through a mid-life crisis, they didn't need to hammer the point home, especially with a joke that wasn't funny. Still, the movie is pretty good and it's worth it, not only to see Bo Derek in her prime but also for that scene with the Reverend.
After he's just done singing for Moore, the old woman bringing them tea had me laughing for a solid 5 minutes. Just pure genius. Especially with the Reverend's punchline at the end. Classic.
